We’re excited to announce 2 new features: you can now schedule posts to go live at a specific time and edit the published date of your posts!

How to schedule a Post

Need to announce something later? Here’s how to schedule a post:
1. Add markdown front-matter to your post

What's front-matter?

Front-matter allows you to specify metadata and options about how your page should behave or render.

2. Include the publishAt field

The image showcases a blog post titled 'Post scheduling and published date editing' within a note-taking application. The post announces two new features: scheduling posts and editing their published dates. It provides instructions on how to schedule a post, including adding markdown, the publishAt field, and using quotion.co/time for UTC/ISO 8601 formatting.

Frontmatter:

===
publishAt: 2024-09-26T17:36:02+01:00
===
⚠️
Warning

Please use = as the delimiter, not -, because --- will be converted to ― in Apple Notes.

3. Use quotion.co/time to get a future date and time in ISO 8601 format

The image showcases the 'Time tools' section of the Quotion website, designed to provide users with a simple way to get the Quotion-compatible date and time. The current time is displayed as '2024-09-25T18:13+08', with a 'Click to copy' prompt. The interface also includes an option to 'Pick a date' for any date.

Feel free to use any other time tool you prefer, just make sure it’s in UTC/ISO 8601 to avoid timezone issues.

How to check if the scheduling is working?

You'll see a future date shown here if you have set it right in preview mode:

The image showcases a blog post titled 'Post scheduling and published date editing' on the Quotion website. The post is in preview mode and scheduled to publish on September 27, 2024, at 12:36 AM. The article explains how to schedule posts and edit the published date, with a focus on markdown front-matter and the publishAt field.

If you didn't see the time (only "preview mode"), make sure you have set the right front-matter, the date is in ISO 8601 format and it's a future date.

How to edit the published date of a post

Previously, Quotion used the created or updated date as the published date of a post. Sometimes, you may want to customize the date. Here is how to edit the published date:

  1. Follow the same steps as how to schedule a post
  2. Change publishAt to a past date
